Come to the table, friends. Pull up a chair. I’m so glad you are here.
You know that excited feeling you get right after you move into a new home? You’re glad the move is over, but you still have work to do until things feel settled. I’m feeling that way about the move to this new website. Moving is hard no matter how much you love your new home.
My brilliant friend and website designer Erin at designbyinsight did a wonderful job creating this new place for us. I am truly grateful and can’t wait for you to look around. Please make yourself at home. And by all means let me know if you find anything unusual while you are peeking around. I’m technically challenged (to say the least), so there may be some kinks in the links until I figure things out.
After seven years of blogging at The Schell Cafe, I’ve accumulated quite a collection of recipes. I picked the best of the best, with the help of Husband and the four Littles, and compiled our favorite recipes in an ebook, just for YOU! Maybe you’ll find a favorite or two of yours made the list of over thirty tried-and-true recipes. I even threw in a few never before published recipes, including Blue Cheese Wafers, Panzanella Salad and a Yogurt Spice Cake made with Stonyfield yogurt, naturally.
You can download a pdf (printable!) version of The Schell Cafe Cookbook for free, when you subscribe to my monthly-ish newsletter. It’s easy. Enter your name and email address in the form below, follow instructions to activate your subscription and you’ll receive an email confirmation letter from me with your download link. (Note: if you do not get an email confirmation immediately, check your spam/junk folder. Sometimes MailChimp emails land there until your subscription is complete.)
Some of you might be wondering what the difference is between subscribing to the newsletter and signing up to receive blog posts via email. Great question.
There are two ways to be part of our community—the village, as I like to say.
The newsletter subscription (managed by MailChimp) is a more personal way to send news and updates to you. I hope to send out the newsletter monthly-ish, but quarterly is probably more realistic. No worries about too many emails from me.
Signing up to receive blog posts via email or RSS feed (managed by Feedburner) is the best way to ensure you never miss a story or recipe from the blog. I post about three times per week, mostly recipes, but this new home allows me the space and freedom to pursue other passions like fly-fishing and writing. Thank you for indulging me in these endeavors.
Notice I have a new mantra up there beside my name. Live life out loud. You know what’s harder than moving? Living life out loud. It means I’ll share the good and the hard in hopes of offering encouragement in life’s highs and lows. You’ll find honesty here. Perfection? Not so much.
Sign up now to get your free copy of The Schell Cafe Cookbook. I can’t wait to hear what you think! Hurry, it’s only free through September 30th. Then I’m going to try to pay for college tuition for four children by offering my ebook in the Kindle store on amazon.com for $1.99. Husband says my math is fuzzy, but to go for it.
Come on in, friends!
I’m so grateful you are here.
Love,
The new site looks lovely! I’m looking forward to receiving the cookbook, and following along as you travel on your Weaving Words journey. 🙂

Food for your heart and soul! I love how God is working through you girl! I am asking God to bless this place, to speak to those who pull up a chair and to encourage your heart as you passionately follow His lead!
xoxo,
Stacey

I just am looking at your cookbook, and I LOVED the napkin that said No Texting At the Table!!! Ahh so true!!
These look fabulous too!
Thank you for sharing!
Jill, I have a great set of napkins with pithy notes on them like this. I’ve tried to find the napkins on line – I would love to give away a few sets and keep them stashed for presents. I’ll let you know if I find them. Or maybe I should just find a friend with a monogram machine! 🙂
GOT MINE! I can’t wait to dig in my precious friend. You’re the most amazing woman I know 🙂 Love you!
You are a dear. Thank you. I hope you enjoy the cookbook. There are plenty of recipes without onions for your husband. 🙂

I knew the moment I taught you in Biology, you were destined for great things!! I am so thrilled for you, Kristin!!
And, it was clear I wasn’t destined for Biology! 🙂 So glad you are here. Enjoy the cookbook.
First time I have ever been to your site……got sent over here by MOB. Saw you had a chicken enchilada recipe but when I clicked on it I was sent to someone elses blog where you had been a guest and posted it there only I couldn’t find it. Any chance I could get the chicken enchilada recipe? Thanks!
Kim, I actually wrote that post for Brooke – of MOBSociety! I will send you the recipe. Maybe we can get Brooke & Erin to post it on the MOB site. The chicken enchiladas are yummy and all four of the Littles love.
Kim,
Here is another link to the Chicken Enchilada recipe. Enjoy!

Thanks Wendy. I’m so glad you are here and hope you enjoy the recipes in the cookbook.
Wow! Felt like I had to get in line with all the comments in various places. This is very, very (oh, and very) exciting! The site is pleasing visually and I know the continued contributions you will offer of food, family and life will be something I am blessed to be a part of.
Fly on, sweet child!
You taught me well, Mia. Thank you for giving me wings to fly. I love you.
Love it! So excited you have a place that’s “all you!” Can’t wait to read more recipes, more about fly fishing, and all your other passions too.
Thank you for all you have done to make this place possible – prayer, friendship and editing the ebook! Just think, I would have never known an em dash from a hyphen if it weren’t for you, my friend. 🙂 Love you much.
So exciting! So proud of you!
Thank you sweet friend. xo
Kristin….I love it. Guys like to cook too. Remember when was searching for the world’s best chili recipe? You helped me find a couple. And, you suggested I add chocolate to it. It was fabulous.
Thank you Popa. (Does this mean I’m your favorite?)
You are amazing, Love reading about your adventures!!! Very exciting .. can’t wait to hear about San Diego and the writer’s conference. How short? Love ya!
Thank you, friend! I’ll keep you posted.
The hair is a disaster. Just below my jaw line…but doesn’t hide my (aging) neck! 🙂 xo
Oh, this is lovely!!! Beautiful and welcoming – just like you. You are a hero to me in so many ways. xo
