What does the word Evangelism mean to you?
This video was produced by our church for an upcoming conference called Grace @ Work. I just watched it for the first time and it really causes me to stop and think about how others perceive evangelism. I have to admit as someone who is passionate about Jesus Christ, I feel a little sucker punched by some of the perceptions. I know I shouldn’t be shocked. I’m certainly aware that ‘evangelism’ gets a bad wrap and have even felt the pain of being stopped dead in my tracks as I’ve tried to share my faith when it just wasn’t going to be received.
So, tell me…
How do you define evangelism?
Or maybe more importantly, what do you do in your daily life that encourages others to know Jesus?
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.
When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.
Then Jesus came to them and said,
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28: 16 – 20
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;
and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria,
and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 1:8
Nothing like pondering The Great Commission as we head into the weekend, huh? Let me know what you think, and tomorrow I’ll share my Grace @ Work testimony with you.
Loved the video! Evangelism does have a scary connotation. We all know evangelists we wouldn’t want to be like. I think evangelism for me, today, means building relationships, sharing life and watching for opportunities. When the door opens to talk about my faith, to pray and then to walk through it and hope the Spirit gives me the words!!
