I love this piece of artwork that hangs in the hallway between the Littles’ bedrooms. It was a gift from a dear friend to us during a difficult time. Someday, I’ll share our adoption story with you.
Every time I walk by this precious painting I smile. It was painted by a woman named Mary Proctor. After losing her family in a devastating fire, the Lord appeared to Mary and told her to paint. She’s been painting and creating ever since. Mary uses objects found in the junkyard she runs to create her poignant images. Broken glass, buttons, pennies, cola cans, and other trinkets laying around are all transformed in her works. She signs her artwork Missionary Mary Proctor and considers herself a missionary who shares spiritual truths and life lessons through her art. Most of her works are inspired by Biblical scripture. I have several pieces of Mary’s work, but this is my favorite because it was created by Mary personally for us after hearing our story.
Each day as I walk past the Littles’ rooms I am grateful for Mary’s reminder to live by faith, trusting that Christ will carry us through the crossroads of life.
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10

Oh, I needed to hear that today! Thank YOU! I only know of one other person who has work by Mary Proctor – Cathy T. What fun to own a piece of hers and how special to have it created just for you!!

Is it not a gift from God that He puts friends in our lives during difficult and trying times – sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes for a season, but really – forever. Like you and Maggie (and others) for me.
You shared the words I needed tonight – love, hugs and blessings.
