As I arise today,
may the strength of God pilot me,
the power of God uphold me,
the wisdom of God guide me.
May the eye of God look before me,
the ear of God hear me,
the word of God speak for me.
May the hand of God protect me,
the way of God lie before me,
the shield of God defend me,
the host of God save me.
May Christ shield me today.
Christ with me, Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit,
Christ when I stand,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
~ St. Patrick
In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, I thought I’d post a Mealtime Prayer to go along with our 52 Sunday Suppers Irish Feast. Susie & I made this delicious supper last week with traditional Irish recipes from our friend Rachel Gaffney. The supper was so scrumptious my family begged for it again today. So, I’ve got an herb rubbed brisket in the oven as we speak. . .
Be sure to stop by Susie’s for the Irish Soda Bread recipe and a special conversation starter for your St. Patrick’s Day supper.
Oh, and I was going to write up a little history about St. Patrick for you, but guess what? John Piper beat me to it! You can read the article The Mission of St. Patrick on his Desiring God website. Seems like they are fans of the book The Celtic Way of Evangelism, too.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, friends!
Love,

What a beautiful prayer. Really stopped and read/prayed it.

How is it that I am 40 years old and have never really heard the story of St. Patrick until now?! That is terrible. Thank you for featuring the link to his story. I love reading things like that. We had a simpler supper this evening, but it did involve green, and I told my kiddos St. Patrick’s story today. Have a great week!
