Hospitality starts at home. Consider this quote from Reaching Out by Henri Nouwen,

“Our children are our most important guests, who enter into our home, ask for careful attention, stay for a while and then leave to follow their own way. Children carry a promise with them, a hidden treasure that has to be led into the open through education in a hospitable home.”

Bring the gift of hospitality to your family today. Make dinner special tonight by adding a little extra touch like lighting a candle. When one of your children asks, “what’s the special occasion?”  Tell them, “YOU!”

Share with each member of your family why they are special to you. We’ve created a You Are Special printable to make things easy. Print out the fold-over place cards, write a special note, and place on each person’s plate.

Day #2 Challenge Option: Invite someone to join you for dinner tonight. Don’t worry about what you are making or if you’ll have enough food, you will. Set an extra place at the table, reach out and invite someone. Don’t forget to tell your guest why they are special, too.
