February Suppers for Sharing and Conversation Starters

February Suppers for Sharing and Conversation Starters

Do you remember the secret LOVE hand squeeze? Three quick pulses for each word: I Love You. If you were lucky, you got the four squeeze reply: I Love You, Too. I used the secret hand squeeze with my mom. Whenever I was nervous or scared or sad, those reassuring squeezes did the trick.

Mister Rogers also had a secret code for LOVE. 1-4-3.

1 = I

4 = LOVE

3 = YOU

Whenever he sensed a child was sad or lonely, Mister Rogers reminded them of the special message: 1-4-3.

February is the LOVE month. Sure Valentine’s Day is a great way to celebrate your true love, but this special month has 29 days to say I LOVE YOU. That’s right, 2020 is a Leap Year.

What will you do with an extra day this month to share the love?

The first recipe my mother taught me to cook was Cheesy Skillet Hamburgers. We used our mustard yellow electric skillet to brown the meat and melt the cheese, but the secret ingredient was Jane’s Crazy Mixed-Up Salt. It was my favorite meal and when mom made it I felt the LOVE.

My children have more discerning palates than I did in the ’70s. Kids these days are all about the bowls. And, our favorite is topped with the most delicious BBQ Glazed Salmon. We could eat this bowl for days! It’s how I say I LOVE YOU.

If you need a simple crowd pleasing casserole, look no further than my 5 Ingredient Tex-Mex Casserole. This make & take dish is a delicious way to tell your neighbors I LOVE YOU.

February 25th is Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day! Clean out the sugar, chocolate, and sweets in preparation for Lent by hosting a traditional Pancake Supper. Invite the neighbors and set up a DIY Pancake Station loaded with all the toppings.

Meet Kristin

Welcome! I'm so glad you're here.

I'm on a mission to love my neighbors. I put an ordinary picnic table in my front yard, painted it turquoise and invited neighbors, friends, and even strangers to hang out and do life together at the Turquoise Table®.

I hope you'll join us!

Winter wonderland in #atx 🤷🏻‍♀️❄️🙌🏽
Said goodbye to 2020 and welcomed 2021 in our happ Said goodbye to 2020 and welcomed 2021 in our happy place @ymcarockies We’ve packed it all in— sledding, skating, hiking, vision boards, celebrated our 23rd anniversary, and kicked off the New Year this morning with a 5k. I even found time to sit and stitch by the fire.

Sure feels like we are making up for lost time and setting our hope for the year ahead. Happy New Year friends!!

No coffee on the porch for me this morning! I’ll No coffee on the porch for me this morning! I’ll stay by the fire. We made the 16 hour trek to start the new year in our happy place. We’ve never been here the week between Christmas and NYE and we’re excited to explore in the snow. ❄️ I’m already laughing at our summer stash of clothes we keep here —cotton leggings, hoodies, and fishing boots. Feel free to laugh with and at me. Also winter friends—give me all your tips.

12 Days of Christmas Day 12: 🌟 The Christmas St 12 Days of Christmas Day 12: 🌟 The Christmas Star

Tomorrow (12/21), just after sunset, the heavens will perform a rare show. Jupiter and Saturn will cross paths in the night’s sky and appear to shine as one bright star. The Bethlehem Star, scientifically called the “great conjunction,” will be visible for the first time in 800 years.

On this winter solstice, the shortest day of the very longest year, step outside, look up and feast on JOY as heaven and nature sing. ✨

“O Father may that Holy Star
Grow every year more bright,
And send its glorious beams afar
To fill the world with light.”
