Outrageous Hospitality and Gooey Ginger Cookies

This page may contain affiliate links.

The editors at The High Calling posed a question on Facebook asking for examples of outrageous hospitality.

“Our team at the High Calling has been talking a lot about what it means to offer “outrageous hospitality” to others. Tell us when you have experienced that kind of hospitality — in a business, a home, a church, anywhere. We’d love to hear when you’ve felt a genuine and generous reception from someone else.”

I love this question and it started my brain whirling around with times I’ve been the recipient of such kindness. But, I keep thinking about Ludmilla and what it means to show genuine hospitality.

Take a minute and be encouraged by watching this film produced by Deidox.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I tend to make things much harder than necessary. I want to ‘do’ good things and offer genuine hospitality. But, unlike Ludmilla, I have the tendency to leap ahead of the Lord instead of giving the Holy Spirit room to use me in all things, at all times.

Ludmilla’s table is spread with sweet rolls, cake, and fresh butter. An invitation to taste and see that the Lord is good. I wish I could hold hands and bow heads with Ludmilla at her table in Prague. I would bring her gooey ginger cookies and cherish conversation and prayer in the Embassy of the Kingdom of Heaven.

Thank you, Lord for Ludmilla and for the gift of hospitality she so generously shares. May we all be instruments of your love, offering all that we are, and all you’ve created us to be, as ambassadors of Christ’s Kingdom. Grant us all a spirit of outrageous hospitality! In Jesus’ name. Amen

Speaking of outrageous hospitality, the kind folks at Deidox gave me permission to post Ludmilla’s story today. It is one of the many 5-minute films that document the faith of everyday people. Stop by for a visit and be encouraged by these beautiful faith stories.

Love,
