Strawberries + balsamic vinegar = YUM
Two ingredients. Two delicious dishes. Talk about a twofer!
When Susie suggested a yummy soda pop pork recipe, I knew simple berries would be the perfect addition for a light springtime supper. And guess what? Balsamic strawberries are equally delicious for a salad AND dessert.
Balsamic Strawberries
Slice 3 cups of strawberries. In a small bowl, drizzle berries with 1-2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar. Generously season with fresh cracked pepper and a smidgen of salt. Stir to coat berries and allow to marinate 20 – 30 minutes.
That’s it! Hardly merits writing out the recipe. Be sure to make enough strawberries for a savory salad and scrumptious dessert.
Our CSA basket is full of greens right now. Peppery arugula, spring mesclun, heirloom spinach, and curly cress. Balsamic strawberries are especially tasty on a bed of arugula tossed with a little goat cheese and a drizzle of olive oil.
Save a few strawberries for dessert. . .balsamic strawberries make a surprisingly decadent topping for vanilla ice cream.
