Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix For a Crowd

Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix | kristinschell.com

This super chocolate-y hot chocolate will bring good cheer to anyone who drops by for a visit. The creamy blend of cocoa and white chocolate says l.o.v.e. in a mug.

All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.
~ Charles Schulz

Keep this dry mix on your counter in a festive container. When friends arrive you’ll be ready to serve a special treat for the visit. We like to stir a little peppermint into the hot chocolate and top with a fresh dollop of whipped cream. Beware ~ your friends may never want to leave.

The Littles and I made extra hot chocolate mix for gifts. Package the mix in a festive mug or mason jar, add peppermint sticks or marshmallows, and tie with a pretty ribbon.

Voilà you’ve got a perfect gift!

Double chocolate-y goodness spells l.o.v.e. in a mug.

  • Author: adapted from Mel's Kitchen Cafe
  • Prep Time: 15 mins
  • Total Time: 15 mins
  • Yield: 20 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups nonfat dry milk
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups cocoa powder, unsweetened or natural
  • 3 (4 oz) bars of white chocolate {I use Ghirardelli baking bars}
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Carefully chop the white chocolate bars.
  2. In a large bowl whisk together the dry milk powder, sugar, cocoa powder, chopped chocolate, and salt.
  3. Working in batches add the mix to a food processor and pulse until the chocolate is finely ground.
  4. To serve: add 1/4 cup mix to a mug and stir in hot milk or water. Top with whipped cream, peppermints, or marshmallows.
  5. Hot chocolate mix will keep in an airtight container for 2 months.

Looks good. Think I’d use half dark chocolate bars and half white chocolate! I’m in love with dark chocolate. Love chocolate and peppermint combo, I often stir my hot chocolate with a peppermint stick.

Yum Nana! I agree. I’m a dark chocolate nut myself.

Definitely gonna make this for my kiddos. I’m with Nana Phyllis – I’d love to try dark chocolate for myself. But my kiddos prefer the flavor of milk chocolate over dark.

Claire, you should probably come try a mug. Like right now. And, I’ve got a Mexican Hot Chocolate mix I’m working on that is pretty decadent…what would really flip my lid would be a dark chocolate and salted caramel blend.

Stopping by here to get this recipe. My daughter wants to make for her friends as a back-to-school gift after the holiday. You do such good stuff here.

Loved finding your site. A girl at our church put a Turquoise Table in her front yard. One Sunday, our minister acknowledged what she had done and the success it had been in her neighborhood. What a good way to spread the love of Jesus – by being His hands and feet in doing good for others. Keep up the good work, Kristin!

Sharon, I’m so glad you found me! Welcome and hope you’ll join us often.

Meet Kristin

Welcome! I'm so glad you're here.

I'm on a mission to love my neighbors. I put an ordinary picnic table in my front yard, painted it turquoise and invited neighbors, friends, and even strangers to hang out and do life together at the Turquoise Table®.

I hope you'll join us!
