Market Monday: Probiotics

I know it’s already the second week of the new year, but y’all are still thinking about making healthy changes, right?

I was first introduced to Inner-Eco Kefir last year at Whole Foods. Niki, one of the founders, was sampling her wares and we ended up talking for a while. I was hooked before I left the store. Nearly a year later we take this supplement daily.

Why?

For our health, of course. Did you know that 80% of your immune system makes it’s home in your intestines? Maintaining good intestinal health will promote your overall wellness. Maybe you’ve seen probiotics touted in yogurts, namely acidophilus. It seems all the major yogurt brands are marketing this good bacteria. Read the labels very carefully on these yogurts and you’ll find that they are still loaded with other ‘stuff’, namely sugar. Sugar breaks down as a form of yeast in your intestines and actually causes the bad bacteria in your gut to breed. Probiotics, which are the good bacteria, help protect the body against the harmful bacteria, parasites and other organisms.

Inner-Eco Probiotic is a dairy-free kefir made with young coconut water. In addition to the trillions of live beneficial cultures, the kefir and coconut water deliver live enzymes. You don’t drink very much, just a tablespoon or two a day. Husband and I really like the fermented drink. The Littles don’t like anything fizzy or carbonated, so I usually add their ‘shots’ to a smoothie. Or I add a drop or two of Sweet Leaf Vanilla Creme Stevia to the kefir which seems to please them just fine too.

As we all know, I’m no doctor. So take my advice accordingly. But, I encourage you to do a little research for yourselves. Try a good probiotic for a while and see if you notice any improvements. Whole Foods sells Inner -Eco and you can check out their website to find a location near you. And any reputable natural foods grocer will be able to give you more information on the benefits of probiotics.

What is your favorite probiotic?

Love,

I use Ortho Biotic Powder for gastrointestinal health. It has proven to work “wonders” for me. The 51 grams works perfect in the powder form for my traveling days.
Because I trust your information I will also check out the product you have suggested as well!
Thanks for keeping us all informed regarding our health!
