Italian Meatloaf

Re-entry is hard. We are all tired, still on an adrenaline high from the Longhorns victory at the Rose Bowl and our visit to Disneyland. Our homecoming has been a big dose of reality. A post-holiday messy house, laundry up through the chimney, and the realization that all the hustle and bustle of … [Read more...]

Baked Ham & Cheese Risotto

Ah…were it always like tonight. Yesterday, (before my knife injury) I made a Risotto, Ham and Cheese dish for this evening. The recipe recommended making the dish in advance for the flavors to blend. So, with the main dish already prepared, my time in the kitchen was brief consisting of only … [Read more...]

Sea Bass in a Leek & Red Bell Pepper Sauce

As luck would have it, the day I decide to keep a cooking journal (of sorts), I sliced through my left ring finger with the Wusthof knife I got for Christmas. Sadly, I cannot type….gladly, however, I did muddle through the recipes I am trying for this evening’s meal. In addition to the incredibly … [Read more...]

Introduction to The Schell Cafe: December 26, 2005

My husband’s grandfather, Frank M. Schell owned the Schell Café in Cooper, Texas during the early 1900's. I never knew Grandfather Schell, but he must have loved serving great meals and having folks gather ‘round his tables. His son William B. Schell, my late father-in-law, finished every meal in … [Read more...]

Meet Kristin

Welcome! I'm so glad you're here.

I'm on a mission to love my neighbors. I put an ordinary picnic table in my front yard, painted it turquoise and invited neighbors, friends, and even strangers to hang out and do life together at the Turquoise Table®.

I hope you'll join us!

Winter wonderland in #atx 🤷🏻‍♀️❄️🙌🏽
Said goodbye to 2020 and welcomed 2021 in our happ Said goodbye to 2020 and welcomed 2021 in our happy place @ymcarockies We’ve packed it all in— sledding, skating, hiking, vision boards, celebrated our 23rd anniversary, and kicked off the New Year this morning with a 5k. I even found time to sit and stitch by the fire.

Sure feels like we are making up for lost time and setting our hope for the year ahead. Happy New Year friends!!

No coffee on the porch for me this morning! I’ll No coffee on the porch for me this morning! I’ll stay by the fire. We made the 16 hour trek to start the new year in our happy place. We’ve never been here the week between Christmas and NYE and we’re excited to explore in the snow. ❄️ I’m already laughing at our summer stash of clothes we keep here —cotton leggings, hoodies, and fishing boots. Feel free to laugh with and at me. Also winter friends—give me all your tips.

12 Days of Christmas Day 12: 🌟 The Christmas St 12 Days of Christmas Day 12: 🌟 The Christmas Star

Tomorrow (12/21), just after sunset, the heavens will perform a rare show. Jupiter and Saturn will cross paths in the night’s sky and appear to shine as one bright star. The Bethlehem Star, scientifically called the “great conjunction,” will be visible for the first time in 800 years.

On this winter solstice, the shortest day of the very longest year, step outside, look up and feast on JOY as heaven and nature sing. ✨

“O Father may that Holy Star
Grow every year more bright,
And send its glorious beams afar
To fill the world with light.”
